Hot Summer Day

We went outside yesterday morning before the heat got unbearable. My idea was to take another ride on the tricycle, however Andrew had a different idea. This is what he did instead:

Playing in the rocks is his absolute favorite thing to do. He does love sidewalk chalk as well. This is his creation from yesterday:

It got really hot really fast, so we went inside. Hopefully he'll start wanting to ride his tricycle. There are just too many rocks around right now to distract him. This is just a cute picture from the end of the day:

Wonderful Anniversary

If you want to know details about our anniversary, check out my myspace blog here. The blogs are on the right.

These pictures are a little of the detail of our day. I think the great Forrest Gump said it best with, "Oww, something bit me!"

Time to Roll!

Well, we broke down and got Andrew a tricycle. I know, I know, big step. He still gets on a very weird way. We're trying to teach him to put his leg over first. Oh well. In a step of technological genius, we're trying to embed video here so you can check it out. You'll probably have to click on it before you can use the controls. Anyway, here goes. After all, a picture is worth a thousand words, so who knows how many words this video is worth...

Summer Days

These are a couple of pictures of the first time we took Andrew swimming this summer. He walked around the pool for about 15 minutes before he finally decided he trusted his daddy enough to hold him in the pool. Once he was in, he LOVED it! Hopefully we'll get to go again soon. But it won't be this next week because Jay is off to camp, and I'm not brave enough to take him by myself. I don't have a picture of it, but tonight was our annual creek baptism at church and it's just what it sounds like. When we got to the creek Andrew headed straight for the water, which terrified me! What would I do if he wanted to get in that nasty water?! Well, I didn't have to worry about it. All he wanted to do was sit right at the edge and throw rocks in the water. I was very relieved, because the smell was not pleasant...Jay, however, did have to get in the unpleasant smelling water.

Sleepless nights

As you you may or may not know Jay is in San Francisco right now with some of our youth & youth leaders, and our Ed. minister. They're doing great, having lots of ministry opportunities and fun as well. They'll get back late Saturday night. Summers are hard. Luckily I got to go to staff camp this year...below is a picture of Jay and Andrew on the last day. I just love my boys! Anyway, there are usually at least 2, sometimes more, weeks where I'm here alone. Well, Andrew is here too, but you know what I mean. I haven't spent any time with anyone over the age of 2 since Sunday. Praise the Lord it's a church night and I get to go to choir! Seriously, I'm very excited!
I never sleep well when Jay isn't here. I'm not scared or anything like that, I just toss and turn and wind up falling asleep right before Andrew wakes up (6 a.m. if you were curious!). Anyway, I wish I was the type of wife who could enjoy time to herself, but I'm just not. God did not wire me to be alone. I have done a couple of productive things while Jay has been gone though. I moved our computer into our bedroom. It was in the dining room but because of my new table, there wasn't room for it anymore. I cleaned the house, and made chicken spaghetti last night. It's not Jay's favorite dish, so I made it since he wasn't here. I also froze half of if for the week he's gone to camp (beginning of July). I also made a banana bread...needed to get rid of some bananas. So now when I weigh 300 lbs. at the end of the summer, you all will know why. :)

New Table and Sick Andrew

We just got back from staffing a kids camp in Texas...it was WONDERFUL! I actually got to go and participate since Jay's mom lives in Dallas and she kept Andrew (thanks Nana). But now my little baby is sick. He started not feeling well Saturday I guess and now it's full blown. He's got a runny nose and his throat sounds bad...sorta been coughing but more than anything it just sounds gruff. I was supposed to be at VBS today but I didn't think I should chance taking him and contaminating anyone else. So you can pray that he feels better soon.
Also, I FINALLY got a new kitchen table. Jay found it at SAMs and it was a GREAT deal, so we got it Saturday. Thought I would post a picture for all of you who care. And for those of you who actually saw my other table and chairs (that should be condemned) you know this is a big step up! I'm so excited...now we can actually have people over for dinner.

Pictures in the Park

I took these yesterday in the park. Don't worry, I have printed some up and will be sending hard copies to the grandparents soon. I thought they turned out great....considering Andrew doesn't really enjoy getting his picture taken.

Birthday Party

Here are some pictures of Andrew's birthday party. I think everyone had fun. Three of his friends from Sunday School came: Cate Davidson, Emily Barrios, and Keyleigh Midgett. No boys, but I think he likes the ladies better anyway. :) One of his babysitters, Janette, came as well. Anyway, I'm off to church, but thought I would post these first.

Andrew & Papaw

I wanted to share a couple of pictures with you. The first is of Andrew and my dad. He was here at the beginning of last week for a short visit. Andrew actually sat in that chair with him for awhile, and if any of you know my child, that is very uncommon. So I think he likes his Papaw. The other picture is of Andrew Sunday morning. I tried to spike his hair up with some gel, and in response he immediately started patting it back down. But I still think he looked precious. His birthday is Friday and his party is Saturday. I hope I don't cry at the party. I'm sure the stress of having several two year olds running around will damper any sentimental notions I get. :)

That Crazy Andrew

We've thought that our VCR was just messed up for awhile now. I had tried a few weeks ago to get the tape out and it wouldn't come out. I just chalked it up to it being old and didn't worry about it too much because they're about extinct anyway. Well Jay got determined last night to fix it. It took him all of two minutes...he lifted the little flap thing and saw what you see in the picture above. The tape wouldn't come out because our sweet Andrew decided that this little memory disc needed a home inside the VCR. It's becoming apparent to us that he likes to find a home for things like this (remember his socks?). So our days are never boring with him around. The other picture is of him in his new papasan(sp?) chair. A lady at church bought this for one of her girls and it was too small, so we decided to buy it from her. He loves it!
His birthday is just two and half weeks away now. I just found out there is another birthday party on the day I was going to have his...not quite sure what to do yet. It wouldn't be a big deal except this birthday party involves a couple of his friends that are in his Sunday school class and I really want them there. I also already reserved our clubhouse for this date, but I'll figure something out.
Well, I'm off until I find some other foreign object in a place it doesn't belong. :)

D-Now

So the weekend was great! Three junior high girls got saved so that was wonderful. This picture is of our boys from Texas. This is us dropping them off at the airport on Sunday and Andrew hadn't had a nap. As you can tell he was extremely unhappy! We joked that everyone around us was probably hoping he wasn't about to be on a plane with them. But it was great to see the boys and for the most part, Andrew enjoyed the weekend too. Now we're going to get some rest and recover.

Busy Weekend

Here are some cute pictures of my boys. They have a lot of fun together...Jay is Andrew's big toy. He loves playing with him, probably because mommy doesn't play rough very well. But that's ok because if he's ever hurt or sad, he wants me. I think it's a good trade off.
This weekend is Disciple Now weekend for our teenagers at church. It's always a crazy busy weekend for Jay, so we won't see him much. But because of this weekend, we get to see some of our youth from Eastland. They graduated last year and are now in college and we're very excited that they are going to be here. On another note, I think I've decided that I'm going to have Andrew's birthday party here at our clubhouse. I wanted to have a swim party, but the pool won't be "open" yet. I'm sure I will be posting more about this in the days to come.

Easter Eggstravaganza

These are some pictures of our Easter Eggstravaganza at church. It wasn't exactly egg hunting weather, but the kids still had fun. One is a picture of Andrew shaking the egg. Immediatley after that he threw it...that's what he did with all of them! He wasn't quite grasping the idea, but I did manage to sneak a few in his basket that he didn't throw out. The other picture is of him and Olivia. She is our associate pastor's daughter...isn't she adorable?! Usually when they're together, they're hitting each other. They have this love/hate relationship. Anyway, that was about all of the eggstravaganza that we participated in because it was freezing!

Weekend Anticipation

I don't have much to report except that I'm going to a Beth Moore conference this weekend and Jay will be staying overnight with Andrew for the first time! I'm super excited about the conference and I know Jay and Andrew will have fun together. I think it will be good for them to spend some quality time together alone. I think Jay is going to take him to the park on Friday since it's finally warming up here. Anyway, I thought I would post this picture of when Andrew was really little for those of you who may have never seen him small. He's been big for some time now, but there was a time when I could pick him up without straining. :) My little baby is now a big boy. Anyway, that's all for now...hope everyone has a great weekend!

New Pics of Andrew

These are some pictures of Andrew from today. That's his really cheesy smile, it's my favorite. Anyway, everything here is good. I'm trying to get you a video coming Nana, but either he won't cooperate or I make it too big to send. But I promise you'll have one soon.

Socks in the Toilet

In case you can't tell, those are Andrew's socks floating in the toilet. We put him to bed last night and I went into the bathroom to find this (shocking, but hilarious) scene. Jay and I laughed so hard that we cried. I'm sorry if any of you are offended at seeing the potty in a picture, but it was just too funny not to post. I believe it's time to get the latch things for the potty. He has never really messed with it before except to close the lid (and I was so proud that he was learning that early that I never stopped him!). Anyway, everything else is ok here. We had to stay home from church last week because he caught this strain of hand, foot and mouth disease from someone at church. No big deal, just a rash all over him, but it didn't itch or anything. It's all gone now. So we are now just anticipating Andrew's birthday party in May. I haven't decided exactly what to do yet. But once I do, I will let everyone know.

Wednesday, February 15, 2006

I thought I would post this picture I took today...that expression is just too cute! His nose is runny because I think he's getting a cold. At least, I hope that's all it is. There is a lot of illness going around the nursery. Bad things like pnemonia and the flu and RSV. I am praying hard that Andrew doesn't pick any of that up. Hope all of you are doing well. Have a wonderful day!

Snow Day

It snowed on Wednesday here and again yesterday (Friday). These are some pictures of yesterday and today. Today when we went outside, Andrew had a hard time walking and thus the picture of him mad. I tried to get him to touch it, but he would have no part of it. He just wanted to walk around. And when it was time to come in, a huge screaming fit occurred. I'm emailing a video to you Nana of Andrew outside yesterday during the snow. It's pretty cute.

Andrew's Busted Nose

Here are some new pictures. If you'll notice, Andrew's nose is bruised in one. He fell in the church parking lot a couple of weeks ago and busted his nose. It was quite sad. I had a doctor look at it and she said it might have been broken a little, but it would heal fine, and it has. Also, his hair is cut short because Jay and I tried to give him a "real" haircut and we butchered it. So, I had to buzz it all off...sorry Nana. But it will grow back and next time he needs a haircut, we are taking him somewhere. I think we've finally learned that we have no idea what we're doing. Everything else is pretty much the same. He's still not eating well, except for fruit and oatmeal. I tried to make him eat some mashed potatoes the other day and he started choking. So, forcing it in his mouth doesn't work. If anyone has any tricks, I would love to hear them. That's about all that's new with us.

Thursday, February 02, 2006

This isn't the greatest of pictures, but it's still newer than the others. I'll download some more soon. He fell the other day and busted his nose. It got all swollen and bruised...it was so sad. But I guess he's a boy, so these things are going to happen. Other than that there's nothing new to report.

Monday, January 09, 2006

Well, here's some new pictures...I thought they were adorable! But I'm partial, I know. Hope everyone is doing well. Nana, did you like your Christmas present? Sorry it took forever to get to you. Well, as we speak, Jay is at the doctor. He couldn't shake that cough, so I finally convinced him to go. I think this is the 3rd time he's been to the doctor in the 6 and 1/2 years we've been married. Why are men so stubborn about that? Anyway, once he gets over that cough, I think our family will be well again. It's been a long time! Seems like we've been sick forever. Well, I better run...Andrew has the TV turned on in our bedroom and it's blaring! Hope everyone has a great day. Talk to you later.

Andrew's Toybox

Well, this entry is specifically for Debbie (Nana). I thought you might want to see Andrew in front of his new toybox....isn't he cute!? Daddy put it together last Saturday and we are really enjoying it. Especially me because there is a lot less clutter in his room now. So thank you from everyone! We are really enjoying having Aunt Mindi here with us...hopefully she won't catch Andrew's cold! He is actually doing better though. Well, I better run...I hope you enjoy the picture.

Prayer Request

Ok, Christi and Andrew both have a cold. Please pray they get better! The Beerley household hasn't slept for 2 nights. Not fun.
Our church's Christmas musical is tonight and tomorrow. Should be good. I'm a "Lord a Leaping" in our 12 days of christmas song. Frog hat and all...

Love you all!

Jay

He's Walking!

For those of you who don't know, Andrew is finally walking. It's kind of sad...I've wanted this for a long time and worried about it, but now it's really like I've lost my baby. I now have an independent little boy. Oh well. I thought these pictures were adorable, so I'm passing them along...especially for Nana!

Merry Christmas from the Beerleys!

This is us at our Hanging of the Green service, which was totally incredible by the way. We'll attempt to be more regular posting here.

Our little Fireman

This is Andrew on Halloween at our Fall Festival at church. He is a fireman, in case you couldn't tell. He was not too fond of the hat, so consider yourself lucky that there's actually a picture of him with it on. And to update on the walking process, he actually took 3 steps on Friday, but he won't do it again. He's getting more balance everyday though!

Jay and the Dog!

Well, we haven't posted anything in awhile, so I thought I would update you on some things. This is Jay and someone else's dog. The staff were getting their pictures done at this lady's house and this was one of them...I thought it was cute, so I'm putting it on here. I know it's not Andrew, but it's the next best thing! :) We are doing well. Andrew is still not walking! I'm doing the motherly thing and worrying about it constantly, but he'll do it when he's ready. He walks around the house holding onto the walls and furniture, so I know he can do it, he just isn't ready to let go. However, he did feed himself mashed potatoes with a spoon the other day...it was a major breakthrough. But now he's reverted back to just playing with them. Oh well-he's 17 months old, what can you expect? We are planning our Texas trip for the middle of November and we can't wait to see everyone! Hope you all are doing well!

A little taste...

First of all, let me say that I had a wonderful trip and it's so good to be back. My time at the National Youth Workers Convention was wonderful. The quality of preaching, worship and pracitcal seminars is unbelievable. I also went to a critical concerns course on 3Story Evangelism that was incredible. Please check it out!
I also had a chance to spend 2 days in San Francisco doing a pre-site visit for our mission trip there next summer. It was incredible. God instantly gave me a heart for the area in doing ministry there. Rigth after he took away my incredible fear and claustrophobia of it being so packed! I didn't see any of the cool touristy pictured things that you see on television or ads. I saw the heart and pain of the city. The needs. I greatly look forward to God stretching me personally and the youth ministry here in Joelton. I'd love for you to check out CSM's website and be in prayer for them and us as we partner with them. And it was wonderful to be able to hang out with Holly and Brandon, too.
Hope everyone is doing well and we'd love to hear from you! Send us an email or leave a comment. Love you all!
Jay
